Long time resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Josh Ergas currently resides in Oakland, CA. Formerly an actor, he spent two years training at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and one year at Laney College in Oakland. He performed in two local independent films (The Personals, The Hunt For Kestral Mannix) and starred in numerous theatrical performances (Love’s Labors Lost, Abingdon Square, Katie & Frank, Medal of Honor Rag). Using his acting experience as a springboard, he went on to study film at both San Francisco City College and the San Francisco Film Arts Foundation. Josh Ergas has thus far completed two short narrative films (Salt & Pepper, Passing The Buck), which have won awards and honorable mentions at both the Oakland International Film Festival and The Berkeley Video & Film Festival. Josh is just finishing up his latest short narrative super-16mm film, Bully, and will soon be submitting to festivals around the world. In addition to writing and directing narrative film, Josh Ergas produces music and instructional videos and heads up his own company, Freeplay Productions. Most recently, he was admitted into the Masters of Fine Arts program for Film and Television Production at the University of Southern California.
